My sister (same mother, different father) Rosa and her team sat down and got personal with Avicii while he was in Boston.

Real cool departure from the standard interview.

INTERVIEW: Get To Know Allen Stone

24 Feb

Allen Stone is a self described “hippie with soul,” with his long hair and thick rimmed glasses the average observer would not peg him for the talented R&B singer that he is. I was able to catch up with Stone, who is currently on tour, while he was riding around middle America in the back of his tour van. Luckily for us when he was not getting distracted by cute dogs at rest stops he was able to give us some great insight into his music.

INTERVIEW: Get To Know DJ Tina T

8 Feb

The Seattle native and current Las Vegas resident DJ Tina T is more than just an ordinary club deejay.  She can create remixes, produce songs, she can spin on vinyl and digital systems like all the rest but let’s not forget her side project as the director of Camp Spin Off, a deejay summer camp for kids thirteen to seventeen.  She takes her passion for music and deejaying and allows other kids to get hooked much in the same way she did thirteen years ago. I got the chance to catch up with DJ Tina T on the phone last week.

INTERVIEW: Get to know Matte Fields & Dope Couture

7 Feb

Ever since Matte Fields, founder and owner of Dope Couture, can remember he has been into clothing. Fields has always been a scholar of clothing, fashion, and trends; always into the newest and freshest. Fields was that super fresh kid in school whose outfits warranted the type of attention that immediately struck a sense of mediocrity in others around him. Read more about Matte’s creation of Dope Couture and the brands transition to the West Coast after the jump!  Continue reading

INTERVIEW: Get to know Sophia Chang

9 Jan

The witty and vibrant, Sophia Chang, has been building quite the buzz in the art & design community with her recent work. DirtyLaces got the chance to catch up with this busy chick. At first Sophia was soft spoken, but as the interview went on she became very candid—so much so she casually dropped the F bomb. Our conversation had a tendency to stray off topic as we chatted about our favorite brands and our love for the bun hairstyle. Read about her experience at Parsons, valuable internships, and dream collaboration after the jump! Continue reading

INTERVIEW: Get to know The Knocks

4 Jan

The Knocks, known for their songs “Dancing With The DJ” and “Make It Better,” came together almost by accident. The duo comprised of Ben “DJ B-Roc” Ruttner and James “JPatt” Patterson met through a mutual friend during their early days in New York City when they were both college students.  After being introduced they kept in touch and slowly began sending song ideas and beats back and forth.  As time wore on the guys were ready to start the next chapter of their lives; luckily for them — and for us, they were both searching for an apartment at the same time.

INTERVIEW: Get to know Moufy

9 Nov

Putting Boston’s hip-hop scene on the map is soon to become Moufy’s next accomplishment. This Boston Native has been making moves lately; a song collabo with David Ortiz, Big Papi of the Boston Red Sox, and getting his music played at the New England Patriots game. Despite some issues, we both ran into low battery trouble, Dirtylaces got the chance to catch up with Moufy. Read more after the jump!

INTERVIEW: Get to know Neon Hitch

27 Oct

It’s safe to say that Neon Hitch has taken the path least traveled to fame. As a young girl she traveled around Europe with her parents and never stayed in one place for very long. While most of us were still getting the hang of walking upright Neon started training as a trapeze artist with the Archaos circus. Luckily for us I was able to catch her on the phone while she lounged in her garden in New York.
